Hurricane Watch vs. Warning

A watch means hurricane conditions are possible in the specified area. A warning means hurricane conditions are expected. Always use the latest NHC/NWS alert for exact timing and area.

Why the wording matters

The alert type changes as forecast confidence and timing change. Storm Incoming will display the official alert type, issue time, expiration time, affected area, and source rather than rewriting safety instructions.

What Storm Incoming shows

Event pages will separate official watches and warnings from our derived location-impact summaries. Any emergency action should follow the issuing authority and local emergency management.
